ABOUT

SOULCANVAS

What started as a idea....

In the vibrant creative landscape of 2023, two powerhouse Black women creatives, Yha Mourhia Wright of YhaWright Productions and Tamika Jamison (formerly Newhouse) of AAMBC, embarked on an inspiring collaboration that birthed the remarkable initiative known as SoulCanvas.

Yha Mourhia Wright, known for her innovative work in production and visual storytelling, and Tamika Jamison, celebrated for her leadership in the literary world through AAMBC, found common ground in their shared vision to unite creative individuals in a space that inspires and informs.

The idea for SoulCanvas emerged from their desire to create a platform that celebrates the intersection of various art forms and fosters a community where creativity knows no boundaries. Both women, with a wealth of experience in their respective fields, saw an opportunity to bring together writers, filmmakers, visual artists, and other creatives under one unified umbrella.

SoulCanvas serves as a testament to the power of collaboration, celebrating the diversity of voices and talents within the Black creative community. Launched in 2023, this initiative quickly became a hub for inspiration, education, and connection. The platform hosts a myriad of events, from workshops and masterclasses to collaborative projects that showcase the multifaceted brilliance of black creatives.

Yha Mourhia Wright's keen eye for visual storytelling blends seamlessly with Tamika Jamison's passion for literature and community building. Together, they've created a space that not only informs and inspires but also acts as a canvas for the soul – a space where every creative individual can contribute their unique brushstroke to the rich tapestry of black art and expression.

SoulCanvas, born out of the shared dreams of Yha Mourhia Wright and Tamika Jamison, stands as a testament to the transformative power of collaboration, creativity, and the enduring spirit of black excellence in the arts.
